JALNA: Jalna Lok Sabha Congress MP Dr Kalyan Kale has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to expedite several pending development projects in the district and release funds for irrigation, drinking water supply, pollution control and educational infrastructure.
Kale, along with other Congress MPs from Maharashtra, recently met Chief Minister Fadnavis in Mumbai and submitted separate memoranda seeking immediate action on various issues concerning Jalna city and the district, according to a statement issued by his office on Friday.

Rs 150 crore sought for Hatwan irrigation project
Kale sought an allocation of Rs 150 crore for the Hatwan irrigation project and urged the state government to expedite the land acquisition process. Once completed, the project is expected to provide irrigation facilities to agricultural areas in and around Jalna.

Ghanewadi reservoir repairs
The MP also called for urgent repairs to the spillways of Ghanewadi reservoir, a major source of drinking water for Jalna city. He sought a separate allocation for desilting the reservoir.

According to Kale, cracks have developed in the spillway walls, raising concerns about the safety of the structure during heavy rainfall.
Demand for action against industrial pollution
Kale raised concerns over increasing industrial pollution in Jalna and adjoining MIDC areas. He demanded a comprehensive assessment of pollution levels, special audits of industrial units and strict action against industries violating environmental norms.

He also sought regular testing of industrial wastewater to ensure compliance with pollution-control regulations.
Funds and staff sought for ICT Jalna
Regarding the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Jalna, Kale demanded completion of pending construction works and adequate manpower and administrative infrastructure.
He also sought permanent appointments for teaching staff, an independent establishment mechanism, appointment of a full-time director and adequate funds for laboratories, the library and other educational facilities.
Farmers’ debt relief scheme
Kale further urged the state government to implement the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmers’ Debt Relief Scheme, 2026, comprehensively.

He sought inclusion of eligible farmers with outstanding dues prior to March 31, 2019, and demanded that the maximum incentive available to farmers who regularly repay their loans be increased to Rs 2 lakh.
He also urged the government not to exclude eligible farmers because of Class-II land status or technical difficulties relating to documents and identification numbers.
More police stations sought

Amid concerns over rising crime in the district, Kale also called for measures to strengthen law and order and demanded an increase in the number of police stations in Jalna district.
The MP urged the Chief Minister to direct the concerned departments to take immediate action, release the required funds and accelerate the implementation of pending development works.
