Madrid, May 30, 2025 — In a landmark transfer, England international and Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially signed a six-year deal with Real Madrid, binding him to the Spanish giants until June 2031.
Real Madrid paid a £10 million early release fee to Liverpool to finalize the transfer before his contract expiry, enabling the defender to participate in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States beginning June 14.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, joined Liverpool’s academy at age six and became a core part of Jurgen Klopp’s era. His tactical vision, long-range passing, and creativity made him one of the world’s most admired right-backs.
At Real Madrid, he is expected to play both as a right-back and in a hybrid midfield role, offering flexibility to the squad. He joins fellow England star Jude Bellingham and will be coached by new manager Xabi Alonso.
Notably, the Spanish club has set a massive €1 billion (£840 million) release clause in his contract, reflecting their high expectations and long-term investment.
Alexander-Arnold’s debut is anticipated on June 18 against Al Hilal in Miami during the Club World Cup group stage.
