U.S. Military Position: No Ground Troops in Iran Yet, Pentagon Keeps Options Open
Washington: Amid the escalating Iran–Israel–U.S. conflict, the United States has clarified its current military posture, stating that no American ground troops are currently deployed inside Iran, while leaving open the possibility of further escalation if required.
During a Pentagon briefing, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that American military operations are currently being conducted mainly through air and naval power without deploying ground forces inside Iranian territory.
The Defense Secretary warned that the United States would “go as far as we need” to achieve its military objectives and protect American interests, indicating that all military options remain open.
No Ground Invasion Announced
When asked about the presence of American troops in Iran, Pentagon officials confirmed that no U.S. ground forces are currently operating inside Iranian territory.
However, officials avoided ruling out the possibility of future troop deployment, stating that operational decisions would depend on the evolving military situation.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, military planning continues as part of a broader strategy to respond to developments in the Middle East conflict.
Focus on Strategic Military Targets
U.S. officials have indicated that the current military campaign is focused on Iranian missile capabilities, military bases, and strategic infrastructure rather than a full-scale invasion.
The Pentagon has emphasized that the operation is intended to remain a limited military campaign and not a long-term occupation similar to earlier conflicts in the region.
Possibility of Escalation Remains
Although ground troops have not been deployed so far, U.S. officials have made it clear that the situation remains fluid and military strategy could change depending on developments on the battlefield.
Experts believe the absence of ground troops suggests a strategy based on precision air strikes and naval operations, but the risk of further escalation in the region remains high.
The ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States continues to impact global security, air travel, and regional stability.
