At Dr. Dhakne Law College, Advocate Balaji Mantri explained the ‘Domestic Violence Act 2005’, sending out a powerful message of justice and dignity for women

Jalna (Representative): On the occasion of Sharadiya Navratri, a special legal awareness camp focusing on women’s rights and protection was organized in Jalna. The event was jointly hosted by the All India Advocates’ Council and the Innerwheel Club of Jalna Horizon, in collaboration with the Jalna District Legal Services Authority, at Dr. Subhashrao Dhakne Law College.

On Tuesday, September 23, the second session of the camp was held, where Advocate Balaji Mantri delivered an extensive lecture on the “Domestic Violence Act – 2005.” He emphasized that domestic violence extends beyond physical abuse to include mental harassment, economic exploitation, denial of employment, and deprivation of the right to residence.

Advocate Mantri explained that women who face any form of abuse or harassment from their husband or in-laws can seek protective orders from the court. He also informed attendees that the law entitles survivors to financial assistance for livelihood, medical expenses, and protection of property.

The programme was attended by Advocate Mahesh Dhannawat; Innerwheel Club President Hema Jaiswal; All India Advocates’ Council Secretary Advocate Pradeep Patel; Advocate Ashwini Dhannawat; Administrative Officer Prof. Sharad Kawanakar; Principal Krantilakshmi Mudiraj; and Vice-Principal Dhanshree Mante.

Organizers said that on Wednesday, September 24, the camp will continue with a session on the “Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act,” to be led by Advocate Ashwini Dhannawat.
