New York: US President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly this week as the Iran conflict, the war in Ukraine, global trade and international security remained major issues before world leaders.
Trump defended his administration’s approach to Iran and said Washington was working toward an eventual settlement. The speech came amid continuing disruption around the Strait of Hormuz and broader concerns over energy supplies and regional security.
Ukraine also remains on the agenda
Trump also said the United States was working with Russia and Ukraine and expressed the expectation that the war could eventually end. The conflict has continued despite diplomatic efforts.
US-China talks
Trump’s UN appearance also came just before his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Washington, adding trade and technology competition to the international agenda.
The General Assembly brought together leaders from around the world for discussions on security, diplomacy, economic issues and international cooperation.
