New Delhi: The Central Consumer Protection Authority has imposed a combined ₹25 lakh in penalties on Amazon, Flipkart and JioMart in separate proceedings concerning the online sale and advertising of an unregistered agrochemical product marketed as Cyclosinone Herbicide.
Penalty breakdown
- Amazon: ₹10 lakh
- Flipkart: ₹10 lakh
- JioMart: ₹5 lakh
The CCPA also directed the platforms to discontinue the sale and advertising of the product and conduct self-audits of their marketplaces.
Why were separate orders issued?
The authority issued separate orders for the three platforms. The CCPA’s official order archive records the Amazon matter dated September 16, 2026, and the Flipkart and JioMart matters dated September 22, 2026.
The action followed proceedings linked to a complaint concerning the sale and advertising of the product on e-commerce and digital platforms.
