JALNA: Members of the Ganesh Mahasangh, including President Shlok Agrawal, Working President Adv. Mahesh Dhannawat, Bhusan Yadav, Anand Bumb and other members, have urged the government to consider declaring a holiday for eligible voters on the day of the Graduate Constituency election scheduled for 23 October 2026.

The members expressed concern that the absence of a holiday could affect voter turnout, particularly because a large number of graduates are employed in major establishments, offices and private organisations where regular working hours may make it difficult for them to reach polling stations.

Ganesh Mahasangh President Shlok Agrawal said that the demand raised by Working President Adv. Mahesh Dhannawat for a holiday was genuine and intended to help eligible graduates exercise their democratic right. He urged the authorities to consider the practical difficulties faced by working graduates and take appropriate steps to facilitate voting.

Adv. Mahesh Dhannawat, Working President of the Ganesh Mahasangh, said that voting is an important democratic responsibility and eligible graduates should not have to choose between attending work and casting their vote. He appealed to the government and concerned election authorities to consider suitable arrangements, including a holiday or other effective measures that would enable more registered voters to participate.

Bhusan Yadav, Anand Bumb and other Mahasangh members also emphasised that the issue should be addressed well in advance in future elections. They urged the government to review arrangements for Graduate Constituency elections so working graduates receive a fair opportunity to vote.

The members further called for simplification of the voter registration process. They said clear guidance, easier procedures and timely public awareness could help eligible graduates complete registration and participate in the electoral process without unnecessary difficulty.

The Ganesh Mahasangh members appealed to the authorities to consider these concerns for the current election and while planning future Graduate Constituency elections.
