Ramco Cements has another operational development on the radar: its Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal at Jayanthipuram in Andhra Pradesh.
The terminal enables movement of crushed limestone from the company’s Budawada mines to the Jayanthipuram integrated cement plant using railway wagons and an electric locomotive.
The project includes an approximately 8.3-kilometre rail movement route and a dedicated siding. It was inaugurated in September 2026.
Why logistics matter in cement
Transportation is a significant part of the cement industry’s cost structure. Moving raw materials by rail can provide an alternative to road-based transportation for specific supply chains and can improve logistics planning.
Ramco Cements has described the cargo terminal as an environment-friendly logistics initiative. The company is also expanding production capacity and working on operational efficiency across its network.
What investors will watch
Investors will continue to monitor cement demand, realisations, fuel costs, freight expenses, plant utilisation and the financial impact of capacity and logistics initiatives.
