The US Supreme Court has temporarily cleared the way for the Trump administration to resume deportations to third countries while the justices consider whether migrants must be given an opportunity to object.

AP reported that the order lifted an appeals court ruling that had blocked the practice. Federal attorneys said the lower-court decision had disrupted a planned deportation flight.

Legal challenge continues

The Supreme Court’s action is temporary and does not resolve the underlying legal question. The justices are expected to hear arguments on the administration’s policy.

The case is part of a broader set of legal challenges surrounding the administration’s immigration enforcement policies.
