Iran and U.S. nuclear diplomacy negotiations

TEHRAN, September 29, 2026: Iran says diplomacy remains possible despite continued pressure from the United States, with officials awaiting Washington’s response to Tehran’s latest proposal.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Iran wants a negotiated solution. Reuters reported that Tehran’s latest proposal connects an end to hostilities and economic measures with reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resuming nuclear negotiations.

Nuclear issue remains central

Washington has made Iran’s nuclear program a central issue. Iran maintains that its nuclear activities are peaceful and has resisted demands it views as coercive.

The next stage depends on the response delivered through mediators and whether the two sides can agree on verifiable commitments.
