BEIJING, September 29, 2026: China and the United States have reached eight new understandings following the latest round of economic and trade consultations, according to China’s Ministry of Commerce.
The understandings cover areas including tariff arrangements, agricultural trade, rare earth-related issues and economic dialogue. The two sides said the agreements were intended to help stabilize bilateral economic and trade relations.
China Government News reported that the eighth round of consultations produced positive consensus.
Tariff arrangements
The latest understandings include reciprocal lists of non-sensitive products eligible for tariff reductions. The United States and China each identified roughly $30 billion of goods.

Further dialogue
The two countries also agreed to continue economic and trade discussions through working mechanisms. These arrangements do not eliminate wider differences between the two economies, including disputes over strategic technologies.
