What’s the oldest thing you own that you still use daily?
My Oldest Companion: The Quran I Still Use Every Day
There are objects in our lives that go beyond their physical form. They become part of our routine, our emotions, and even our identity. For me, that object is my Quran—the oldest thing I still use daily.
This Quran has been with me for many years. The edges of its pages are slightly worn, the cover shows signs of time, and yet, it remains as spiritually vibrant as ever. It’s more than just a book—it’s my guide, my comfort, and a constant reminder of faith and discipline in a fast-changing world.
Every day, I make time to read it, reflect upon its verses, and find meaning that applies to whatever I may be going through. Sometimes the words give me strength. Sometimes they offer calm. And at other times, they inspire deep reflection. It’s amazing how the same page can reveal new wisdom depending on the state of your heart.
What makes this Quran even more precious is not just its spiritual value, but the emotional connection I have with it. It was gifted to me years ago during a difficult phase in my life, and ever since then, it has been with me through thick and thin. Whether I was feeling lost, hopeful, broken, or grateful — I turned to it. And every single time, it gave me peace.
“In a world full of noise, my Quran remains my source of stillness. In a time full of distractions, it helps me focus. And in a life full of uncertainty, it gives me clarity.”
We often chase after the new—the latest devices, modern solutions, or trending habits. But sometimes, the most meaningful things are the oldest ones, carrying years of silent companionship and deep personal connection.
I may own many things, but this is the one I treasure the most — not because it’s the oldest, but because it’s the most timeless.
