Karnataka Bank Ltd. on Wednesday announced a net profit of ₹418.95 crore for the first quarter of financial year 2026–27, as against ₹292.4 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Consequently, the bank’s return on assets (ROA) improved from 0.97% in the quarter ended June 2025 to 1.29% in the quarter ended June 2026.
At a meeting of the board of directors held in Mangaluru on Wednesday, the board approved the financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The bank’s aggregate deposits stood at ₹1,10,396.41 crore as on June 30, registering year-on-year growth of 7% from ₹1,03,242.17 crore as on June 30, 2025, while retail term deposits (RTD) stood at ₹69,410.29 crore in the quarter ended June 2026, as against ₹65,786.24 crore in the quarter ended June 2025.
Gross advances stood at ₹86,610.21 crore, registering year-on-year growth of 17%, as against ₹74,267.02 crore in June 2025. Asset quality improved significantly, with gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio improving by 88 basis points to 2.58% from 3.46% in June 2025. Similarly, net non-performing assets (NNPA) ratio improved by 57 basis points to 0.87% from 1.44% in June 2025.
The bank’s managing director and CEO, Raghavendra S. Bhat, said, “The bank has achieved an all-time high aggregate business of ₹1,97,006.62 crore and a net profit of ₹418.95 crore for Q1 FY27, reflecting the bank’s unwavering commitment to sustainable growth, prudent financial management and customer-centric banking.”
He further said, “The asset quality of the bank has also improved significantly, supported by sound lending practices, effective recovery mechanisms and sustained monitoring of the loan portfolio, with GNPA improving year-on-year by 88 basis points to 2.58% and NNPA improving year-on-year by 57 basis points to 0.87%. Further, the bank has improved its capital to risk-weighted assets ratio (CRAR) from 20.46% as on June 30, 2025, to 21.10% as on June 30, 2026, reflecting its strong capital position and continued commitment to financial resilience.”
