Kakatiya University is emerging as a major innovation hub in north Telangana and plans are underway to establish a second incubation centre on the campus under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Vice-Chancellor K. Pratap Reddy said on Monday.
Addressing the Entrepreneurship and Startup Induction Programme organised by the University’s K-Hub in association with Telangana’s T-Hub, Prof. Reddy urged students to become job creators rather than job seekers and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
He also said the initiative would provide mentoring and startup support to nearly 3,000 students through T-Hub. He expressed confidence that at least 10 startups would emerge from the programme.
Encouraging students to think innovatively and make use of government support, he said every innovative idea had the potential to become a successful enterprise if nurtured with determination.
The Vice-Chancellor also announced that the University was exploring academic collaboration with Germany’s Reutlingen University. The proposed partnership includes 4+1 and 3+2 dual-degree programmes and short-term student exposure visits.
Registrar V. Ramachandram called upon students to make full use of the mentoring, incubation and innovation support available through K-Hub and T-Hub.
T-Hub representative Sravan Erugula said 400 students had been selected from around 1,700 applicants for the programme. They would undergo 12 to 15 training sessions on entrepreneurship and startup development, followed by continuous mentoring.
T-Hub representatives Ashish Sharma and Bharat, K-Hub Joint Directors Siddharth and Bollam Kiran, faculty members, researchers and students attended the programme.
