MUMBAI: A scuffle in Dadar following an October 2 protest at Shivaji Park has put crowd management and post-rally security back in focus, even as the main demonstration itself was largely controlled by police.
Tension after protesters left Shivaji Park
Reports said the confrontation occurred near the Shiv Sena Bhavan area as participants were returning from the protest. Police intervened and the situation was subsequently brought under control.
The protest had drawn attention over demands concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and an earlier dispute over police permission. Political claims surrounding the event remain contested.
Managing dispersal matters
Large demonstrations can remain peaceful at the main venue yet produce friction along dispersal routes. Traffic separation, police deployment and communication with organisers therefore remain important after a rally formally ends.
