New Delhi, October 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted khadi and village-industry products in the 139th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, and encouraged people to support local artisans during the festive season.
According to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), sales of khadi and village-industry products exceeded Rs 28 crore on Gandhi Jayanti. KVIC Chairman Manoj Goel welcomed the Prime Minister’s remarks and said the sector supports artisans, weavers and rural entrepreneurs.
The commission also reported turnover exceeding Rs 1.87 lakh crore for the 2025–26 financial year. These figures are attributed to KVIC’s official statement.
