New Delhi: The CCPA’s proceedings against Amazon, Flipkart and JioMart have drawn attention to the information provided in online advertisements for regulated agricultural chemicals.
Information gap in product listings
The authority examined listings for a product marketed as “Cyclosinone Herbicide”. The proceedings noted that the listings did not adequately disclose the active ingredient, precise chemical identity and relevant regulatory information.
Some listings also used safety-oriented marketing claims. The regulator examined whether such representations could create an inaccurate impression about the product’s safety or legal status.
Why complete information matters
For products that can affect crops, people, animals or the environment, buyers need accurate information to understand what they are purchasing and how it should be used. Missing or unclear information can make informed decision-making difficult.
