Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: District Collector Vinay Gowda G.C. has taken the drought assessment directly to farmers’ fields, visiting affected areas and instructing agriculture and revenue officials to carry out objective panchnamas so eligible cultivators can receive relief under government norms.
The collector inspected crop conditions and interacted with farmers in areas including Maliwada, Sarai, Waregaon and Chauka. Officials reviewed water scarcity, expected production losses, drinking-water availability and the emerging fodder situation.
From crop loss to drinking water
Drought assessment is not limited to estimating agricultural output. As water sources weaken, administrations must simultaneously plan drinking-water supply, livestock support and employment measures. The district is therefore reviewing tanker requirements, fodder availability and regional water needs.
Officials including District Superintendent Agriculture Officer Deepak Gawali, Sub-Divisional Officer Dr Vyankat Rathod, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Anand Ganjiwar and Tehsildar Shivanand Bidve were reported present during the field assessment.
Accuracy of panchnamas crucial
For affected farmers, the accuracy and speed of crop-loss documentation can determine access to government assistance. Objective field verification is therefore essential, particularly where damage varies sharply between villages or crops.
