US Administration Plans to Remove 760,000 ACA Enrollees Over Fraud Claims

Washington, September 28, 2026: The US administration says it plans to remove 760,000 Affordable Care Act marketplace enrollees, alleging fraudulent enrollment or that some listed participants do not exist.

Administration’s stated rationale

According to the Associated Press, officials said the action could save about $2.2 billion in subsidy payments. The administration also announced a six-month suspension on new brokers it says were disproportionately involved in questionable enrollments.

Healthcare marketplace impact

The announcement comes as Americans face higher healthcare costs and changes to federal marketplace subsidies. The administration’s claims and the implementation of the removals are subject to ongoing scrutiny.
