HANGZHOU, September 29, 2026: China has called for stronger international cooperation and fairer global rules for digital trade as the Fifth Global Digital Trade Expo opened in Hangzhou.
Premier Li Qiang said China would continue sharing market opportunities, strengthening international exchanges and helping improve global digital-trade rules. More than 1,200 representatives from nearly 50 countries, regions and international organizations attended the event.
Focus on digital consumption
Li said China plans to expand digital consumption and improve policies for cross-border e-commerce imports. He also called for stronger support for the digital industry and global digital transformation.
AI and foreign investment
China also said it supports an open-source approach to artificial intelligence and other technologies. Li invited companies from around the world to invest in China and said foreign-invested enterprises would receive national treatment.
