Technology Desk | October 21, 2026. Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire customer engagement company Braze for approximately $5.66 billion in enterprise value, a move aimed at strengthening its artificial intelligence-powered marketing tools. The agreement was announced on October 20; the acquisition has not yet closed.
What Salesforce is paying
According to Salesforce’s official announcement, holders of Braze Class A common stock will receive $47.50 in cash per share. The transaction is expected to close in Salesforce’s fiscal year 2028, subject to regulatory clearance, shareholder approval and customary conditions. That timeline is an expectation, not a completed transaction.
Why Braze matters to Salesforce
Braze specializes in customer engagement across mobile applications, websites, email, SMS and messaging channels including WhatsApp. Its technology responds to customer behavior in real time, helping companies personalize messages and offers. Salesforce plans to connect these capabilities with its Customer 360, Data 360, Marketing Cloud and AI offerings.
The strategic argument is that businesses increasingly want one system to understand customer behavior and deliver relevant communications across multiple channels. AI-driven personalization may make those workflows faster, but the benefits depend on data quality, customer consent and successful integration.
What changes for businesses and consumers?
For marketers, the potential benefit is closer coordination between customer records, automated campaigns and real-time decisions. For consumers, more tailored marketing could also raise questions about privacy, consent and message frequency. Neither company has announced that customer contracts or products will change immediately because of the agreement.
What happens next?
Braze shareholder approval and regulatory review are among the remaining steps. Salesforce says the deal does not change its fiscal 2027 guidance. Investors should distinguish the announced purchase price from future business performance; integration risks and competitive pressure remain.
The deal highlights the continuing competition among major software companies to bring AI into everyday business applications. For related coverage, explore NewsNationOnline’s business reporting and technology news.
