China and the United States have agreed on reciprocal tariff reductions covering about $30 billion of goods from each country, according to China’s Commerce Ministry.

The agreement covers selected non-sensitive products, with the two sides saying reductions will be implemented after domestic legal procedures are completed. China’s Foreign Ministry briefing said around 90% of covered products would move toward most-favoured-nation tariff rates.

Trade truce continues

The arrangement follows the latest round of China-US economic consultations and extends a broader period of trade discussions. It does not resolve every disagreement between the two economies, but it creates a defined framework for selected tariff reductions.

NewsNation Online is also following earlier China-US trade understandings.
