WASHINGTON: Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have issued a 25-page open letter addressed to the American public, urging U.S. voters to oppose President Donald Trump’s policies toward Iran and foreign conflicts.

Reuters reported that the letter argued Iran and the United States could coexist if Washington changed its approach to the region. The Revolutionary Guards also disputed U.S. statements about Iran’s nuclear program and its leverage over the Strait of Hormuz.

The statements come as indirect contacts continue through mediators seeking a diplomatic path in the conflict. The Revolutionary Guards’ position represents the Iranian organization’s own statements and does not establish how U.S. voters or officials will respond.
