NAGOYA, Japan — India’s medal tally reached 65 at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on October 1, according to updates from News On AIR and other Indian sports reports. India remained eighth in the standings with 10 gold, 23 silver and 32 bronze medals. The day also guaranteed additional medals in men’s cricket and hockey after both teams reached gold-medal matches.

Six confirmed medals on the day

India added medals through sailing, wrestling, squash and archery. Manu Francis and Prince Noble won silver in men’s skiff sailing, while Nitesh Siwach won wrestling silver. India’s men’s and women’s squash teams secured bronze, and Ganesh Mani Ratnam won bronze in individual compound archery. Harshita Tomar and Shital Verma also won sailing bronze.

Team sports add guaranteed medals

India’s men’s hockey team defeated Pakistan 4-3 in a dramatic semifinal, with Abhishek scoring 45 seconds before the end. The cricket team beat Sri Lanka by 124 runs and reached the men’s T20 final against Pakistan.

These results mean India’s final medal total will rise again as the two finals are completed. The country entered the Games with a 492-athlete contingent approved by the Indian government and the Olympic Council of Asia.

Archery remains a major contributor

India had already swept the three compound team gold medals and secured a first LA28 quota place in compound mixed team archery. The results have made archery one of the defining disciplines of India’s Aichi-Nagoya campaign.
