Karnal, October 22, 2026: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan from Taraori in Haryana’s Karnal district, calling for measures to protect soil health and promote balanced fertiliser use.
Campaign runs until November 30
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the campaign is scheduled from October 22 to November 30. Agricultural scientists and experts will engage with farmers to promote soil testing, balanced use of fertilisers, crop rotation, natural farming practices and responsible crop-residue management.
Focus on Soil Health Cards
Chouhan urged farmers to follow Soil Health Card recommendations rather than use chemical fertilisers without regard to crop and soil requirements. The initiative seeks to raise awareness of long-term soil fertility and sustainable agricultural productivity.
Rural housing assistance announced
At the programme, the minister also handed over an approval letter for ₹1,343.06 crore in assistance for 28,422 permanent houses in Haryana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin.
