Maharashtra | October 14, 2026: Maharashtra could experience a fresh spell of scattered showers as changing weather conditions influence the state after the southwest monsoon. Reports have highlighted the possibility of rain in nine districts, while regional forecasts indicate varying chances of thunderstorms across parts of Konkan, western Maharashtra and Marathwada around October 16–17.

Which regions may receive rain?

Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur and Sangli are among districts mentioned in regional weather updates for intermittent rain on different days. Parts of Marathwada, including the Jalna–Beed belt, should follow district-specific bulletins rather than assume widespread rainfall. Conditions may vary sharply between neighbouring areas. Rain could bring temporary relief from October heat, but sustained cooling is not guaranteed.

Adv. Mahesh Dhannawat calls for water conservation

Advocate Mahesh Dhannawat of Jalna has urged citizens and local authorities to treat every spell of rainfall as an opportunity to save water. His message is clear: “Save water today to secure tomorrow. Rainfall should be harvested, not wasted; every household and public institution has a responsibility to protect this precious resource.” This is an editorial rendering of his water-saving appeal, not a verified verbatim quotation.

He has emphasised the importance of rooftop rainwater harvesting, repairing leaking pipelines, preventing unnecessary water use, restoring traditional water bodies and improving groundwater recharge. He also called for responsible water use during public festivals and immersion activities, particularly where drinking-water supplies are under pressure.

Advice for farmers and residents

Farmers should protect harvested produce and check weather advisories before field operations. Residents should avoid sheltering under trees during lightning and should not enter flooded roads. Local administrations should inspect drainage and prevent contamination of water-storage facilities.

Forecasts are subject to change. Check the latest district warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department before making travel or farming decisions.
