Control Resonant is now the fastest-selling game in Remedy Entertainment’s history. The Finnish studio’s latest release crossed 1 million copies roughly three weeks after its September 24, 2026 launch, and its arrival helped lift Remedy’s third-quarter revenue by 226% compared with the same period last year. The quarter also flipped the company from a heavy loss to a small operating profit.

The sales and financial details were highlighted by Push Square, which drew on Remedy’s business review for July through September 2026. Remedy had already confirmed the million-copy milestone in an October 15 announcement, calling Control Resonant the “fastest-selling Remedy game” in the company’s 31-year history.

How Fast Control Resonant Sold

Reaching 1 million copies in about three weeks is a meaningful benchmark for a mid-sized studio like Remedy, which built its reputation on story-driven action games such as Max Payne, Alan Wake and the original Control. Those titles earned critical praise, but the company has often had to wait longer for commercial results to catch up. This time, the sequel hit its first big sales target almost immediately.

Two details from the report stand out. First, the United States is the game’s biggest market on both PC and consoles, accounting for close to half of all sales. Second, nearly half of the people playing Control Resonant are new to the Control series. That suggests the sequel is pulling in a fresh audience rather than relying only on fans of the 2019 original, which is good news for Remedy’s plans to grow the franchise.

The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Critics have generally responded well, and Push Square’s own review was positive, although player discussion has been more mixed on topics such as combat and pacing.

What the Q3 2026 Numbers Show

Remedy’s revenue for the July to September quarter rose 226% year over year. The company posted an operating profit of 0.6 million euros, compared with an operating loss of 16.4 million euros in the same quarter of 2025. Push Square’s report, which credits Eurogamer for the original financial coverage, does not list a total revenue figure for the quarter.

The timing makes the turnaround more striking. Because Control Resonant launched on September 24, only about a week of its sales fell inside the third quarter. Most of the climb toward 1 million copies happened in October, which means the fourth-quarter report should give a fuller picture of the game’s financial impact.

Why It Matters for Remedy

Remedy has spent recent years juggling several projects at once, and earlier in 2026 it said it was refocusing on its core strengths, with Control Resonant at the center of that strategy. A strong launch gives the studio both cash flow and evidence that its in-house franchises can sell at scale. It also strengthens the case for further investment in the Control universe, which the company has been building out alongside Alan Wake.

For players, the takeaway is simpler: a narrative-heavy, single-player action game from an independent European studio is finding a large audience in a crowded fall release window. That is an encouraging sign for publishers weighing similar projects.
