Japan Fusion Energy Startup Plans Pilot Reactor Power Tests in 2027

Japanese startup Helical Fusion plans preliminary power-on tests for its Helix HARUKA demonstration reactor in 2027.

The company says the pilot project aims to demonstrate stable, continuous nuclear fusion using a helical approach. Construction of the first major coil is nearing completion.
