Japan Animal Cafes Face First Nationwide Survey Over Welfare and Health Concerns

Japan has begun its first nationwide survey of animal cafes amid concerns over animal welfare, hygiene and public health.

The Environment Ministry survey is examining the number of facilities, species kept, living conditions and interactions between visitors and animals.
