Nagoya: India won its second gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 on Friday, September 25, with Kamaljeet and Suruchi Inder Singh finishing first in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
India’s second gold medal
The Indian pair produced a total score of 484.6 in the final to take the gold medal. South Korea finished second with 478.0, while Iran won bronze with 415.8.
The result gave India its second gold of the Games after the women’s T20 cricket team won the country’s first gold by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. Reuters reported on India’s women’s cricket gold.
Record-equalling qualification performance
Kamaljeet and Suruchi had earlier topped qualification with a combined 587, matching the existing Asian record. They then maintained their composure in the four-team final and stayed at the top through the decisive stages.
Strong day for Indian shooting
The gold came during another important day for India’s shooting contingent, with several Indian shooters also competing in rifle and other events.
