UK Inflation Expectations Rise as Households Face Higher Energy Costs

United Kingdom current affairs September 2026 featuring Westminster, London and British economy

UK households raised their inflation expectations in September, with one-year expectations increasing to 4.5% from 3.9% in August, according to a Citi and YouGov survey.

Longer-term expectations also rose to 4.3%. Reuters reported that the figures are being watched by the Bank of England as energy costs remain a concern.

The survey covers more than 2,000 British households and provides one measure of how consumers perceive future price pressures.
