China expects to secure a bumper grain harvest in 2026, according to the country’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

The ministry’s assessment was reported by Xinhua on September 29. Grain production remains a strategic issue for China because food security is closely linked to agricultural productivity, rural incomes and national supply stability.

Technology supports agriculture

China is increasingly combining agricultural machinery, digital monitoring, satellite navigation and AI-based systems with traditional farming. The country’s expanding use of agricultural robots is another example of this technology transition.

A strong harvest could provide additional stability for food supplies while supporting rural economies and reducing exposure to external commodity shocks.
