The S&P 500 fell 0.3%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.6% and the Nasdaq slipped 0.1%, according to Associated Press reporting. The 10-year Treasury yield reached about 5.28%, its highest level in more than two decades.

Investors are also watching inflation data, job-market indicators and Federal Reserve policy as higher energy costs add pressure to the economic outlook.
