NAGOYA, Japan — India’s compound archery campaign continued on October 1 with Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru winning bronze in the men’s individual event. The result added another medal to an already highly successful Indian campaign in compound archery at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
India’s team clean sweep
India had already won gold in the men’s, women’s and mixed compound team events. Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav also secured a Los Angeles 2028 Olympic quota place through their mixed-team victory.
World Archery reported that the mixed final finished 157-157 before India won the shoot-off 20-19. The result demonstrated the extremely small margins involved in elite compound archery.
Ganesh adds an individual medal
Ganesh’s bronze came after he reached the medal stages of the individual competition. His performance ensured that India finished the compound archery programme with medals beyond the team events and continued a strong run in the discipline.
The success is part of a broader Indian medal campaign across athletics, shooting, squash, sailing, wrestling and team sports. NewsNationOnline has documented the country’s campaign in its India medal winners guide.
Looking toward LA28
The mixed-team Olympic quota adds a future dimension to the Nagoya results. Compound archery is not currently an Olympic medal discipline, but the LA28 qualification pathway connected the Asian Games directly to India’s next Olympic cycle.
Official results and event information are available through World Archery and the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 organising committee.
