KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked US President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on Russian and Chinese companies he says are involved in developing Rassvet, a satellite network intended to rival Starlink.
Ukraine fears improved drone connectivity
Zelenskyy told the Financial Times that the system could improve the precision and reach of Russian drone operations if it becomes operational. He said Chinese support was involved in the project.
Russia, China and SpaceX had not commented on the specific claims in the report. The allegations therefore remain attributed to the Ukrainian president rather than independently established facts.
Satellite communications are now a battlefield asset
The war has demonstrated the military importance of resilient commercial and state-backed satellite networks for communications, navigation and unmanned systems.
