Pune: Passengers aboard a Mumbai-bound Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation bus were left alarmed after the vehicle was allegedly vandalised near Chakan following a dispute over the sounding of its horn.
According to Sakal, an individual allegedly attacked the bus with an iron rod near the Chakan ST stand, damaging glass and creating panic among passengers. The reported trigger was a dispute over the bus driver sounding the horn.
Public transport safety concern
An attack on a passenger vehicle can put many people at risk even when the initial dispute involves only one or two individuals. Broken glass, sudden braking or panic inside a moving bus can create secondary hazards.
The incident therefore goes beyond property damage and raises questions about protection for drivers, conductors and passengers operating through crowded transport hubs.
Allegations remain subject to investigation
The account of the attack is based on initial reporting and any criminal responsibility must be established through the police investigation and legal process.
