LOS ANGELES: Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison has told employees that the company’s planned acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery could close in approximately two weeks.

The latest update follows settlements with US states and the Writers Guild of America that cleared major legal obstacles to the proposed transaction.

The deal would bring major entertainment assets including Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., CBS, HBO and streaming services under one corporate structure if completed.

Ellison described the closing as the beginning of the integration process rather than the end of the work, with the two companies expected to undertake a large-scale combination of operations.

The transaction remains subject to the remaining closing requirements.
