NAGPUR: Nagpur’s aerospace ambitions have received a major boost after the city was selected as the proposed location for an Indian assembly line for the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft.
MIHAN ecosystem gains strategic importance
The development builds on Nagpur’s existing aviation and logistics ecosystem around MIHAN. If the aircraft programme proceeds at scale, local assembly could create opportunities across engineering, component supply, maintenance, logistics and skilled employment.
The project’s ultimate scale will depend on procurement decisions and programme execution, so proposed industrial benefits should not be treated as guaranteed until contracts and production plans are finalised.
Nagpur seeks bigger role in aerospace
The city’s central location, airport infrastructure and industrial land have long supported ambitions to build an aviation cluster. A military transport aircraft line would substantially raise that profile.
