THANE: Construction of steel bridges on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor has reached another milestone, with 16 of the planned 28 steel bridges now completed.
The latest milestone came after a 100-metre, 1,405-tonne steel bridge was launched over NH-3 at Dive-Anjur in Bhiwandi on September 29.
The bridge was assembled before being moved into position during a controlled traffic block. Such structures are required where the high-speed rail alignment crosses major highways, railway lines, rivers and other infrastructure.
Bridge work continues alongside viaduct construction
The steel bridges form only one part of the wider structural programme. Large sections of the corridor are being built on reinforced concrete viaducts, with foundations and piers already completed over much of the route.
An NHSRCL RTI response put overall physical progress at 62.16% as of July 2026.
