NEW DELHI: All land required for construction of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor has now been acquired, according to an RTI response from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited.
The project required 1,389.49 hectares of land for the 508-km corridor. The completion of acquisition removes one of the major implementation hurdles that affected construction in earlier phases.
With land availability secured, construction has been progressing across viaducts, bridges, stations, tunnels and railway systems.
Construction activity expands
The same RTI response reported overall physical progress of 62.16% as of July 2026. Foundation work had been completed across nearly 460 km and piers across more than 455 km.
The corridor will connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad through 12 stations and will include major underground construction in Mumbai.
