Maharashtra Starts Special Check on Out-of-State Vehicles Used Long-Term From October 5

Mumbai, Maharashtra

MUMBAI: Owners of out-of-state vehicles being used long-term in Maharashtra face increased scrutiny as the transport department begins a special enforcement drive from October 5 to October 17.

Long-term vehicle use under scrutiny

The drive is aimed at vehicles registered outside Maharashtra but used within the state for extended periods. Transport authorities are expected to examine compliance with registration and taxation requirements applicable to such vehicles.

For Mumbai and the wider metropolitan region, where people frequently relocate across state lines for employment, the drive could affect a significant number of motorists.

Keep documents ready

Vehicle owners should rely on official transport-department guidance for the exact documentation and legal requirements applicable to their circumstances rather than social-media forwards.
