‘We Won’t Give Up Our Land’: Jalna-Jalgaon Railway Acquisition Faces Farmer Pushback

JALNA: Opposition to land acquisition for the Jalna-Jalgaon railway project has intensified, with affected farmers voicing strong objections to the proposed acquisition of agricultural land and demanding that their concerns be heard before the project advances further.

Development versus livelihood

The railway project promises better regional connectivity, but the land question has become the most sensitive part of its implementation. Farmers say fertile agricultural holdings are not simply financial assets; they are a source of livelihood, family security and intergenerational inheritance.

Hundreds of affected farmers gathered at Khelna Phata and conveyed their concerns to Jalna-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar MP Dr Kalyan Kale, according to local reporting. Their objections have brought route alignment, land valuation, compensation and rehabilitation into sharper public focus.

The next phase needs dialogue

Major infrastructure projects often create a difficult balance between public benefit and private loss. Transparent maps, clear acquisition notices, accessible hearings and fair compensation can determine whether that conflict deepens or moves toward resolution.
