JALNA: Jalna Agricultural Produce Market Committee recorded total arrivals of 5,966 quintals of farm produce in the reported trading session, with the produce valued at about ₹2.65 crore. Tur drew particular attention with a maximum reported rate of ₹9,246 per quintal.
Prices farmers are watching
Along with tur, soybean, jowar and moong were among the commodities highlighted in the market report. For growers facing uncertain crop conditions, mandi prices are especially important because a strong headline rate does not automatically mean every farmer receives the same price; quality, moisture, grade and timing can affect actual transactions.
The sizeable turnover also underlines Jalna’s role as an important agricultural trading centre in Marathwada. Market arrivals influence transporters, commission agents, labourers and a wider chain of rural businesses.
Drought makes market signals more important
This year’s deficient rainfall has made the relationship between production and price particularly important. Farmers may see higher rates for some commodities even while total output or marketable surplus remains under pressure.
