Berlin: Germany has announced a new military assistance package worth about €1 billion for Ukraine as European governments continue to provide weapons, equipment and other support during the war with Russia.
The package adds to Germany’s substantial assistance since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
European support remains central
Military assistance has become an important element of Europe’s response to the war. The composition and delivery timetable of aid packages can affect Ukraine’s defensive capabilities, while Russia has repeatedly criticised Western arms supplies.
The announcement does not by itself indicate any change in the diplomatic status of the conflict. Separate diplomatic contacts and battlefield developments continue.
