JALNA: A farmer was allegedly robbed of ₹12,000 at knifepoint amid crowds during Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s drought tour in Jalna district, prompting police action and questions about security at heavily attended public programmes.
Police probe alleged gang activity
According to police information cited in local reporting, accused persons were detained and a car along with the allegedly stolen cash was recovered. Investigators are also examining whether the group was involved in other theft or robbery incidents at crowded political and protest events.
Police Inspector Santosh Mane of Bhokardan police station said the group had reportedly followed the minister’s tour from the Karmad side of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. Investigators are looking into the full extent of the alleged activity.
