Jalna – Dussehra signifies the victory of good over evil. Every year, we burn an effigy of Ravana in the grounds, but the real Ravana resides within our own minds. With these words, Adv. Mahesh Dhannawat has urged the people of Jalna to introspect this year.
Speaking on the occasion of the Dussehra festival, Adv. Dhannawat said the true meaning of festivals lies not in outward display but in self-transformation.
Adv. Mahesh Dhannawat said –
Ravana had ten heads, which is why we call him Dashanana. But today, the ten heads of Ravana are alive in every person’s mind. As long as they remain alive, no matter how many effigies we burn outside, Vijayadashami cannot be truly celebrated.
This year, let us resolve to destroy the Ravana within ourselves. I appeal to all my fellow residents of Jalna to burn these ten evils within themselves –
- Burn ego
- Burn anger
- Burn envy – jealousy toward others
- Burn greed – limitless craving
- Burn attachment – attraction toward what is wrong
- Burn arrogance – pride in power and wealth
- Burn hatred – bitterness in the heart
- Burn selfishness – the belief that only I am right
- Burn falsehood – dishonesty
- Burn violence – the tendency to hurt others
When these ten heads are burned, a person becomes truly human. This is the real Dussehra. The Ravana in the field burns to ashes, but when the Ravana within is burned, life turns to gold.
Adv. Dhannawat’s heartfelt thoughts have been receiving a strong response from the people of Jalna, and the message ‘Kill the Ravana Within’ has become a subject of discussion.
