Brazil’s 2026 Growth Outlook Cut to 2% as Economy Enters Election Period

BRASILIA: Brazil’s government has lowered its economic growth forecast for 2026 to 2.0%, down from an earlier projection of 2.3%.

Growth expected to remain moderate

The revision comes as Latin America’s largest economy moves through a closely watched presidential election and a cautious monetary-easing cycle.

Economic growth remains important to voters concerned about jobs, household income and the cost of living, although election choices involve many issues beyond headline GDP.

Fiscal policy remains under scrutiny

Investors are also watching government spending, debt and the direction of interest rates. The next administration will inherit pressure to support growth while maintaining confidence in public finances.
