BEIJING/SINGAPORE: Chinese refiners have suspended fuel-product exports for October as authorities seek to preserve domestic stocks during a period of severe disruption in global energy markets, according to people briefed on the matter.

Diesel, gasoline and jet fuel supplies in focus

China restricted fuel exports after the Iran war disrupted Middle Eastern crude flows, later easing the controls and managing shipments month by month. Refiners entered the October holiday period without approval for exports outside Hong Kong and Macau.

The move could further tighten regional supplies of diesel, gasoline and aviation fuel. Whether exports resume after the holiday is expected to depend on domestic inventories and refinery output.
