BEIJING, September 29, 2026: China has issued revised regulations governing implementation of its audit law, according to the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
The revised rules are intended to improve the legal framework for auditing and strengthen oversight of public funds, state-owned assets and other areas covered by government auditing.
China’s State Council listed the revised implementation regulations among its latest policy updates.
Focus on audit oversight
Government auditing is designed to examine the use and management of public resources and assess compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Updated implementation rules can clarify responsibilities and procedures for audit authorities and organizations subject to review.
Governance and accountability
The changes come as China continues to emphasize stronger governance and risk management. Officials have also recently highlighted the need to strengthen accountability in environmental protection and other areas.
