BEIJING, September 29, 2026: China has more than 5.15 million 5G base stations and about 2,185 EFLOPS of intelligent computing capacity, according to figures cited from Chinese officials at the 2026 China International Information and Communications Exhibition.
The figures show the scale of China’s digital infrastructure as the country moves from nationwide 5G coverage toward greater integration of communications networks and AI computing.

AI and communications infrastructure
Chinese officials have called for closer integration between artificial intelligence and information and communications networks. The country also has more than 1,260 5G factories, according to the reported figures.
Next-generation networks
Policy priorities include next-generation communications networks, low-Earth-orbit satellite internet and closer coordination between computing and network infrastructure.
